- Egg Production Industry Process Analysis
Eggs are one of the foods we often eat but do you know how eggs are produced? What steps does the egg production industry need to go through? The beginning of the egg production industry started with the selection of laying hens.
Layer selection
Due to differences in adaptability, each variety has different performance in different regions. Some varieties perform well in one region, but may not perform well in another region. In actual production, the selection of varieties mainly considers the following aspects:
1) Market needs
Under the conditions of a market economy, producers can only obtain better benefits if they produce according to market needs, and layer production is no exception.
2) Feeding conditions
The chicken farm planning and layout are scientific, the isolation conditions are good, the chicken house design is reasonable, and the environment control ability is strong, you can choose breeds with outstanding egg production characteristics because a good and stable environment can ensure the performance of high-yielding chickens.
3) Feed conditions
Areas with a lack of feed ingredients and high feed prices should raise chicken breeds with small body weight, good egg-laying performance, and high feed conversion rate. Farmers with poor quality feed ingredients or low-level feed preparation techniques choose brown-shell layer breeds.
4) Actual performance of varieties
There are many high-yielding hybrid varieties, and the information is very good, but the actual performance is very different. Therefore, when selecting a variety, it is necessary to understand the production performance introduced by the materials, but also to look at its actual performance, and do not blindly choose new varieties.
Laying hen hatching
After the laying hens are selected, the laying hens are then placed in the hatchery for incubation for the production of chicks. The incubator can hold thousands of eggs in a very controlled environment. On day 18, the eggs were transferred to the hatching basket. On day 21, the chicks hatch. After the chicks hatch, they are removed from the hatchery and processed before being brought to the adult farm of the chicks. The processing of laying hens includes sex identification (separating males and females) and vaccination.
Chicken feeding
The chicks are placed in cages or floor rearing rooms, depending on the environment in which they will be raised as adults. Under controlled environmental conditions, cubs will be raised in this facility for the first 18 weeks.
Controlling the length of daylight is very important for chicks. The light time of the chicks should not exceed 10 hours a day, otherwise, it will stimulate them to lay eggs too early.
Once the chicks reach 18 weeks of age, they will enter the mature period and can lay eggs.
The following four points should be paid attention to in the process of raising chickens
1) Pay attention to drinking water.
2) Pay attention to the temperature.
3) Pay attention to feeding.
4) Pay attention to the degree of moisture.
Laying hens start egg production
After the hens arrive in the laying hen house, they are fed a layer of high-calcium feed, with 14-16 hours of light every day to stimulate egg production. Most producers like the flock of chickens to start laying eggs at about 20 weeks of age. A group of hens will effectively lay eggs for 60-65 weeks.
Once the hens lay eggs for 60-65 weeks, they will rest or molt. This will force all hens to stop laying eggs at the same time and allow them to rebuild calcium storage and restore their physical condition. The hens are then brought back to production for another laying cycle.
Egg collection and marketing
Every day, the eggs are automatically collected by belts and rollers into the egg processing room connected to the chicken house. In the processing room, the machine cleans, grades, and classifies the eggs by size, then packs them to the entire egg market or transports them to further processing plants. Some modern egg-breaking factories do not pack eggs but break them into liquid eggs for online pasteurization.
Eggs further processed products
The sold eggs undergo further processing to transform the products into other more convenient or useful products. Liquid eggs and dried eggs can be used in a variety of consumer products. Convenient pre-boiled egg products are also more common in food stores and restaurants. This also adds more value to the final product.
